Dr. Pikula is a distinguished international expert in vascular neurology, brain health, and lifestyle medicine, with specific focus on women’s brain health. With over 20 years of professional experience, she has made significant contributions through high-impact research, scientific publications and international speaking engagements, while pioneering innovative models of care, with some incorporating the Paving the Path to Wellness program.
Dr. Pikula is quadruple board-certified in Medicine, Neurology, Vascular Neurology & Lifestyle Medicine. She completed her Neurology and Vascular Neurology Fellowship and Post doctorate training at the Boston University, Harvard University and Framingham Heart Study being supported by National Institute of Health (NIH-NINDS) institutional grant and National Clinical Research Award from the American Heart Association. Dr. Pikula holds the prestigious position of the Inaugural Jay & Sari Sonshine Chair in Stroke Prevention and Cerebrovascular Brain Health at the University of Toronto and the University Health Network – Krembil Brain Institute, and also serves as the founding director of the JS Sonshine Centre. She currently serves as an expert member on numerous research, clinical practice, education, and professional committees within organizations such as the World Stroke Organization, the American Heart Association, the American College of Lifestyle Medicine, the Heart and Stroke Foundation Canada, the Canadian Stroke Consortium, the European Lifestyle Medicine Organization, and the American Academy of Neurology.
